Firstly, it was a great privilege to be invited and Judge Corporate Super Chef thanks Mr. Deepak Chaudhary and Ms Neha Aggarwal for Making me a part of Corporate Super Chef Season II, world’s biggest inter-corporate cooking contest.
This unique reality-based competition, encouraging cooking talent among employees, is a wonderful way to engage your employees, through competition, innovation and excitement.
On 22 February I went to be a part of the competition in DishTv corporate office in FilmCity Noida . The moment I walked in for the event, I realised that it is a wonderful blend of competition and cookery in a corporate setup.
The excitement and revelry of food and competing teams abounded in commercial spaces which otherwise lack such vigour. In total, twelve teams competed against each other to make a dish that had Saffola oats as its main ingredient.
The task was to make something using various ingredients and oats, creatively, to create a healthy dish. I judged these teams on various criteria along with my fellow judges, Chef Ashish Massey and Vickrham Vicky. There was a lot of ingenuity in the dishes and some such like the oat tikki, oat bhel puri, capscicum filled with oats and shahi tukda caught my attention and made my mouth water.
Final dish that won our hearts was by the team Wonder Chef as they had made oats tikki bread, served it with fresh salsa and accompanied by lip-smacking banana caramelised cinnamon. All these dishes were compiled in just 30 minutes.
All in all, I felt the event is a great initiative to mix up team spirit and culinary skills and to make the respective teams bond over in formal setups. It adhered to the age old maxim of ‘All work, no play makes Jack a dull boy.’ With food being the bonding force, all participants and judges had a gala time at this delectable contest.
